I began to encode an SVCD with TMPGEnc, and noticed the CPU level was between 93 and 100%. Is this normal? I have a Dell Dimension XPS T500 with pentium III, 500 mHz, and am running the program on a 40gig hard drive. Also, does this mean it probably wouldn't be worth it to try making a DVD on this computer without upgrading?

    Thanks

Yes, 100% CPU use is normal. You could make DVDs on it, it would just take a long time to encode.

  3. yes...especially with such a low clockspeed (i.e. 500 MHz), tmpgenc will be using most of it. even so, the encode times prolly will take longer.

there's almost a linear inverse relationship between CPU power and encode time. if you double your CPU power, you will basically reduce the encode time by half.
