I used DVD Decrypter to backup a chapter with just the AC3 5.1 audio.

    VOBEdit to Demux.

When I tried to drop the video and audio into ReelDVD it said the audio is a format it doesn't use. I was under the impression it did. I also tried with 2 Channel AC3 and it won't accept it either. There is no PCM on the DVD I want to backup.

Am I doing something wrong or does ReelDVD not accept AC3? If so, which authoring program can you suggest that will use AC3. I can't afford something like Scenarist and really don't want to go through that kind of learning curve anyway. Any suggestions?

    Thanks

  2. DVD-Lab

30 day free trial in case you don't like it.

Edit: By the way, you can import vob's directly. No need to demux.

I guess I should have mentioned that I've been trying DVD-Lab and have had problems with it, as well. When I try compiling the DVD I get a message that says cannot packetize audio stream. I don't know for sure what that means but it keeps happening and when I burn the DVD there is no audio present. I've tried both by letting DVD-Lab to the demux step and by using VOBedit do demux the VOB file and then drop the discreet audio and video files into DVD-Lab and neither one of the steps works.

Any thoughts on what this is all about?

  4. Try 1.2.2 beta. http://www.mediachance.com/dvdlab/history.html
    - fix for ES audio compile problem (1.2.2)
Try the dvd-lab forum. I believe there is a fix to this. I've browsed a few posts here and on Doom9 about this. Search for DVD-Lab ac3.

To be honest, I don't reauthor backups. I do create ac3 audio for capture compilations with softEncode, and I've never had a problem. I have 1.2.2 installed.
