  1. I am a pro at ripping DVD to SVCD with spectacular quality but new to video camera film work. I have learned in this forum if i take my DV and convert it to Mpeg2 and then multiply it by pie re-encode it to divx then devide it by 32 re-encode it to something else cut edit ad titlels burn and reboot pc im in luck. My question is, WHAT effective and simple program is there to select scenes in my home video and SIMPLY delete THEM REDUCING THE FAT in my video. I have tried video studio and moviefactory and windows movie maker and TMPGE, all seem rather complicated to just cut unwanted Vid. Anyone been where I'm at? HELP.

I have read and read but must not of hit the right messages or help files.

  2. Step #1

Capture the DV via firewire to your computer. This program should be simple. It will split the video up into seperate files based upon your tape time stamps.

    Step #2
Cut or Join what you want. Look at the virtualDub or Avisynth guides under How to Edit to the left. VirtualDub maybe more clear. Avisynth is quite simple to use but seems strange at first. [It has no gui and runs off of scripts. A join command would be like AviSource(file1) ++ AviSource(file2) ].

    Step #3
    Encode your result to MPEG2

    Step #4
    Author to DVD

Hope this helps. You can get lost in the details of any of those steps, but the process can be quick and painless.

  3. I like Pinnacle Studio 8 (when it works). It is easy to use. At least for me

  4. Thank you both for your replies. prior to reading your posts I went back to TMPGE as this is what I use when encodeing ripped DVD's and realized that clipping unwanted footage was very simple with TMPGE (just missed it first 5 times round ). I am 80 percent through a encoding to mpeg2 and will burn to SVCD to see if I have achieved the quality I'm hoping for.

If this fails (quality) I will try your sugestions.
