Locked into DVD Region 1 - Help me Out

Can anyone tell me how to get out of being locked into Region 1 on my PC without having to reformat my hard drive??
Tried software and nothing really works. :(

well this depends,

1st) if you had 4 changes left and used all of them then im afraid your drive is permenatley locked, you cant do anything about it, except buying a new DVDROM drive.

2nd) If you still have some changes left, then as stated by tompika you can flash your drive to change it to a all region DVD plyer. This alone will not solve your region issue,
you would have to change
a) the firmware of the drive as stated above,
b) using software such as dvd region killer (available in tools in the left section) dvd genie to trick the software (i.e. powerdvd, windvd etc) in playing a region protected.

Well, yes exactly.

I just thought he could gather all these info from dvdrhelp and the site above

However DVD RegionFree can handle (thats what it promises) locked drives but its not freeware
