  1. Hi,

    Is there anyway to covert an avi file that has divx encodeing into an meg that does not have it.

    I am not sure, what you mean, but you can convert Divx to MPEG.

  3. I'm trying covert an avi file with divx into meg so I did not have to install the divx encode software to a computer but the meg file still needed the divx software to play is there anything else I could do.

    DivX is a AVI codec. You need it to compress a AVI to a DivX, that is still an AVI. If you want to play a DivX-AVI with a software player, you must have installed the DivX codec. If you want to convert a DivX-AVI to MPEG, you must have installed the DivX codec and you have to use a MPEG encoder. You don't need a divx codec to play a MPEG.
    Note, DivX is compressed AVI. MPEG is a complete different format.

  6. Just an aside - DivX is MPEG4 compression (with a *.avi extension). VCD is MPEG1 and SVCD/DVD is MPEG2.
