Don't know if anyone else ran into this or what I am doing wrong, but I had a 2 language subtitled vcd working, decided to make a nice menu with vcdeasy, and my subtitle went away.

I eventually tracked the problem down. any vcd I built with vcdeasy would not display the subtitles, but the vcds I built with nero would. both vcds used the same mpg files with no re-encoding. vcdeasy did give alot of info messages saying it detected subtitles, but didn't say anything about removing them.

anyone have any idea why vcdeasy may be removing my subtitles?

    thanks

  2. Huh? VCD (MPEG1) does not support selectable subtitles (that's MPEG2 only; SVCD or CVD; and of course DVD). You can have permanant subtitles with MPEG1 thou, but you said you had two subtitle streams so...

Can you give us some more info on what exactly you did and how you authored this VCD?

it was a SVCD (actually it is not following all the standards (resolusion, audio sampling), but the subtitles are SVCD standard). sorry for the mistake, I had it right in the title, but in the body of the text, replace all VCDs with SVCDs.

I am mainly conserned with making it work on my dvd player (apex 1100w), so I have sacrifed alittle in standards to increase the quality. It is more a CVD (resolution of 352x240), with different quality audio depending on the situation (196x48000, 124x48000, 96x44100). I am using 2 audio track, and switchable titles that are supported on SVCDs. My DVD player reports it as an SVCD when I put the disc in. Once I get it finished, I am going to lend it out to see what other DVD players do with it.
