  1. about 90% of the time i burn a vcd or svcd the picture seems to break up around the last few minutes of the movie or sometime around last 15 mins of a vcd. i use nero to burn and im using files that i have downloaded. the only way i can get it so that it doesnt screw up is if i re encode them with tmpgenc.

    Not much information. Here is what I am assuming:

    a) You are using Nero to encode to MPEG ... AND ...
    b) You are using Nero to author the VCD ... AND ...
    c) You are using Nero to burn the disk

    Nero is neither a good option to encode, nor to author the VCD. I had faced the exact problems when I used Nero because it appeared so simple, all everything within a one-step package.

    To encode use TMPGEnc, which is the best piece of encoding s/w available. For authoring a VCD use VCDEasy.

    Burning can be left to VCDEasy or Nero. In case you wish to use Nero to burn, you should create the bin/cue file from VCDEasy and burn at low speeds. Although I have burned at 32x without problems, it is safer at 4x or lower.

    new sony p4 machine burns a nice dvd with pinn8 and nero5.5---vcd's still coasters--don't play on either comp with windows media or power dvd would be nice if i could burn vcd's that work somewhere

  7. first of all the files im trying to burn r vcd and svcd files of movies that i have downloaded from irc. the only way that i am able to get the movies to work is if i reencode them with tmpgenc. i never use nero to encode movies. and i dont think it has to do with the dvd player cuz if i copy the mpg from the disc back onto my computer and watch it it still has glitches in it so i think it has something to do with the burning process. ive tried so many things only thing i can think is maybe having a slow cpu is causing a problem cuz mine is only 533mhz but i dont know if that would affect anything.

  9. @pbhalerao,

    personally, i've never had any problems with nero authoring (S)VCDs. it works quite well. however, nero's encoder is very much lacking.

    -------------

    @VancityG,

    nero "authors" your .mpg files into (S)VCD when you choose the (S)VCD template in nero. you don't need to add any menus, etc.... to be considered authoring.
