Watching VCD's on a PLaystation/ PS2

Hey...

Pretty new to the whole VCD thing, and just wondering if there is anyway of watching a VCD on either of the two consoles, I have heard that it is possible to get software to decode it and convert it to a format that the console can play them in... and of you got any ideas?

Sorry I did not realize it was asked so freqent... though doing a bit of searching it stll has not answered quite what I wanted to know...

I heard you had to convert it to a different file... what I was wondering is, what is the software I need... I have Nero Burn and Easy CD 4 for burners just to let you know

well you didnt search enough...you need a hardware mod for PS1, & PS2 is a loss cause all the way round...do a search for playstation mod on google.

I am calm man...just thinks its funny that people, even "new" ones dont search for something first...I mean its the basis of the internet..a medium to which to search for information.

Yeah well.. I looked quickly and I could not find much about converting... I found something saying I had to make it to a .pss file... but did not say what program or whatever

Searching is all very well but it doesnt tell you recent information. Well, depends on what you are searching...

to convert avi to .pss you need ps2vcd. Its just a collection of converters floating around on the internet. If you are converting to anything other than mpeg1 than it is obviously not a vcd anymore so playing an actual vcd on the PS2 is still impossible, at least for now.

I don't recommend converting to pss. The quality is much lower than vcd, it takes up more space requiring more cdrs per movie, it will only play on the PS2, still requires a way to boot the disk meaning you will need a mod chip or other hack, and also requires a way to boot the file itself meaning you will either need a game enhancer that can load individual files or you will need to learn some programming.

Sorry but all this info could have been found by searching these forums. And Dark_Angel this not meant to be an insult at all but you did use the search function and search by keyword, not just scroll through the forums correct? Because searching for PS2 and vcd brings up the needed info in a few seconds.

Yep I did search, as I have said... I put in Playing VCD's on PS2 or something similar... i found a couple of posts... all mentioning .PSS... but none mentioning the info you just mentioned Adam so thanks

Try using decent keywords like:-
"vcd and ps2" etc...
instead of exact phrases

hey guys, i stumbled on this post after looking around for info on the PS2, no vcds, svcds, minidvds...agh! how bad is the quality of .PSS? im searching for it now, it seems to be only on spanish and french site...just my luck. does anyone know of a site, in english, that has ps2vcd?
