  1. Hi all

    At work today i was talking to a guy who says there is talk or he has heard of a combo drive that can write dvd R -+, by a firmware upgrade or something?

    Has anyone heard of such a thing? maybe its on other forums? any news guys on this drop a line here! could be something new come out a sort of hack?

    edit... misread the original post....

    there are dual format drives available (I have one myself, a Sony DRU-500AX). I don't know of any firmware that can make a +R or a -R a dual-format.

    These have been around for quite a while. Sony has one. Pioneer has one (DVR-A06). There are others, but I haven't been tracking the progress of the multi-format drives.

    yep i thought this odd? but the guy is in to programing the new CNC machine as he writes programs for xp on it and builds them too, so hes no dumbo?

    have to chat more see if he has any model names?

    EDIT:

    i thought of the likes of pioneer 106 as i have this drive then i asked and said you mean cdr writer that can do dvds? he said yes!

    i thoguht i'll post this to see if its known?
