    after i have put the file through the conversion w/tempgenc i can burn the .mpg file onto a data disk right?

    You can burn your .mpg file, BUT it will not be a VCD compliant!
    To make a VCD compliant using Nero soft go to: http://www.vcdhelp.com/nero.htm
