  1. I used to have a Creative Video Blaster SE100 card to capture my movies
    (with win95)
Today im using WinXP with another Video card. When im trying to look at my old movies i get this message: "the CYUV Codec missing".

Ive been searching the web for this codec but i just can find it.
The Creative Support team tells me they dont support this codec anymore
    espacially not with win XP...........

Does anyone know where i can find this codec ?

If not a got a lot of useless movies of family memories....

  3. What software do you use to capture?
If you are using Virtualdub, you can select another codec.

  5. Now, I understand. You want do watch your old captures...
Try open it in Virtualdub and save with another codec.

  6. Angus, if he can't decode, how do you suppose he will transcode it?

  7. Maybe VDub has native support for it.
I checked at Control Panel here and there is no 'CYUV'codec, but it appears in Virtualdub's list of codecs. For capture, at least.
So, i figured Vdub had native support for it.
I'm sorry if I said insane things.

    Good Luck.

its in the ace codec pack i believe http://www.codec-download.de/article.php?sid=15

not in the latest version though .. you will have to get a prev. to 5.90 version which is there .

or you will have to get it off an old creative install disk (all you need is the dll) and self reg it

  9. Tanxs guys but CYUV is a tricky little bastard.

And im not a hacker unforgently....

But im not afraid of asking stupid questions:

BJ_M ---> i got the windrivers from the old creative discett.
But i dont now what to do with them.

    Ive tried this

In the control panel--->Video Codecs---> i clicked on "Update driver" and
picked the directory to the creative driver files....the installation starts but then XP sas that "the driver file can not be found". But all the drivers are there....

When you say "self reg it" im embarest to confess i really dont now what that actually mean. Am i doing something wrong ??

  10. The way you're doing it I'm pretty sure you need the .ini file also. Just copy the whole damn disk intoa folder and install it like that.

you have to figure out which one of the dll's is the decoder (right click properties)..

    put that dll in windows/system32

    now:

start-> run -> regsvr32 c:\windows\systems32\filename.dll (use the correct file name)

    now download dxman (free) http://www.analogx.com/contents/download/audio/dxman.htm

    and install it

    reboot (not always required)

run dxman - it should show up , click propeeties and if there are any that you can change you can do it here (many times there is not) ..

not working ? might be wrong dll .. try another one .. OR dll might not work with winNT or winXP

i found a dos app that can decode them (free) btw .. quickviewer i think its called ..

  12. BJ_M ---> nope... CYUV and WinXP doesnt work together.

I installed Windows ME instead and there everything went fine.

Funkyguy4-->thanxs for the "format guide". I used it in windows ME and it went very well....brilliant quality with that SKVCD template

So Finally i can watch my movies in Win XP !!!!!
