  1. I downloaded a divx movie and it is too large for a cd and there is no parts that i can rip out, so is there a way to change the bitrate for that movie? It has a 889 kb/s bitrate right now and 715MB and is 1 hour, 37 mins, 26 secs long. so what programs could be done to do this? and what would be the absolute best bitrate that i could get?
    thanks

  2. Re-encoding to DivX at another bitrate could be done with VirtualDub and the DivX codec. Check the tools section for VirtualDub, and www.divx.com for the codec. You could try Dr. DivX for a more simplified, userfriendly version.

And the best bitrate could be found using www.dvdrhelp.com/calc

However, just be aware the re-encoding even to an only slightly smaller bitrate will cause alot of quality loss.

Re-encoding a DivX/Xvid always produces a quality hit. A better option is to trim the ending credits (if they are there), or the opening 30 seconds of worthless credits. 715 MB will fit on a CDR, so try overburning if your burner won't let you(make sure you close the session, finalize the disk, and do disk at once).
