  1. I get a problem in RecordNow MAX when trying to resume certain multisession DVD-Rs.. although getting info on the disc tells me that the disc is resumable and that Border #2 is Open (only one session written.. this is true in Nero as well). However, when I try to burn anything to the disc, RecordNow MAX ejects the disc, instructing me to insert a blank or resumable DVD-R. I have burned other discs in the same way without problems, only two have exhibited this behaviour. The first session completed successfully, with verification completing without errors.

I'm running RecordNow MAX v4.5 with the Engine update on a Pioneer DVR-105 (DVR-A05) with v1.33B firmware (I tried other firmwares, same problem). Running WinXP SP1.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  2. Are these DVD-Video discs (movies) or data?

  3. Oops, forgot to specify.. they are data discs.. I would never burn video multisession If this is off-topic, I apologize.. I didn't know where else to ask the question (no response from Stomp).

I should also note that the amount of data I am trying to burn is well below the reported available space. I've also tried varying file sizes.

  4. Same settings were used when creating the "good" and the "bad" discs?

I`d give it a try using Nero (continue multisession).

If that doesn`t work you need to get someone smarter the me...

  5. DVD Video disc's are data discs. The only thing that dictates its a video disc is the files are in a folder called VIDEO_TS.

.....and needs to be closed, finalized to be able to play as DVD-video against a multisession data DVD that doesn`t.

That`s why I asked first if it was a movie (and finalized).

  7. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll give Nero a try again. Last time Nero told me that it couldn't handle UDF and would have to convert it to Joliet only, so I let it, and then tried to burn (in simulation mode only). Nero then proceeded to lock-up

I uninstalled Nero and RecordNow MAX and only reinstalled RecordNow MAX, just to see if it was some kind of weird conflict (I've heard that sometimes they don't play nicely with eachother, but I think that was just in reference to their packet-writers). Anyway, seeing as there is no difference in RecordNow Max's behaviour, I'll reinstall again.

Oh, and yeah, both "good" and "bad" discs are burned exactly the same.

Speaking of Nero, is it finally standards compliant, or are there still inconsistancies?

  8. It just crossed my mind:
There was a guy here couldn`t write at 4x with Max
then changing to DX solved his problem.
I found very few differences in the menu and has a version nr. 4.6

I also have Nero 5.5.10.42 installed and they must really have some bugs fixed because it finally works.

  9. Interesting observation, I'll give DX a try. I keep hearing that MAX will be getting an update any day, each over the past few weeks (on the Stomp forums), maybe they just got the DX update out first. Hopefully I will have time to install both DX and Nero tomorrow. I'll be sure to keep you informed

Thanks very much for the prompt responses and suggestions!
