The Micro Solutions Backpack plus/minus external on sale for $229 looks like an intriguing prospect for US residents.

The case looks like a decent midline USB 2.0 enclosure.

Is this a rebadged NEC 1300A?

    Software includes Sonic MyDVD.

Is Micro Solutions a good company to deal with if any problems arise?

    Further insight?

    Thanks

Well, it is a NEC 1300A.

Interestingly enough, the company actually acknowledges that, unlke Plextor, which plays dumb about the same OEM question.

They also answer their phone within five seconds for tech support.

How come I'm the only person on earth asking about this product?

Doesn't anyone know more than me?

  3. The NEC 1300 is a great product at a great price, I would be interested in the external product that u mentioned but i prefer my dvd writer to be internal, thus eliminating need for the usb cord...which might hamper the writing process.

    just a thought...

by the way, u can get an internal NEC 1300 for 163 USD on avlogic.com

Thankyou for your endorsement of the NEC 1300A and the buying tip. However DVD burning is never an especially speedy process and the fact that a drive is in an enclosure is basically meaningless.

Thought it does get more meaningful when you want to backup the OS of the other 2 computers in your house. Try that with your internal.

Still dying for some information about Micro Solutions. Are they also known as MSI?
