Being in the UK, we're in a worse state than you. CD's over here are £15 normally, so $22 or so is standard. I haven't bought a UK CD or DVD in years, I buy everything from abroad. Why is it a DVD bought in australia and then shipped halfway across the planet still costs a few quid less than a UK retailer?

My cousin plays the drums in a band (in LA, CA). They just came out with their first album. Besides the studio time (wich isn't very cheap), and the artwork for the cover, they paid only for CD multiplications. They printed few thousands (garage band), a little booklet (i guess 8 pages). It costed like $1/CD, including pressing, labels on the CD, booklet, packing, sealing. They look like any CD that you can buy in store. Maybe even better than some.
