  1. Asus released 4 days ago a press release announcing that the company will start the sales of a dual format DVD recorder. The company has decided, like many other manufacturers like, Verbatim, Memorex, NEC, Plextor, NEC, TDK, Pioneer, Lite-On, LG, Mitsumi, Benq, BTC and others that they should leave the choice to consumers if they want to write DVD-R(W) or DVD+R(W) discs. The drive will have the following features:

Ah dagnammit, my usual port of call for all things computery had NEC drives "on order" for ages but I was getting impatient and wanting to make DVDs so I plumped for the single format Asus model on the market at the minute.. the next week LG and NEC had dual format models out and now this! The final kick in the teeth. *grumbles about technology and obsolescence*
