  2. check there...

there have also been a lot of posts about this... try a search to get more info....

if your using it for encoding/authoring/other workstation tasks... win2k is the best option... more stable.

but if you also want to use it for things like playing dvds... depending on your hardware config, you will want 98 on there at least with duel boot.

You cant go far wrong with W2k as its a far superior OS to Win98. Not really any difference in encoding/authoring. I would not under any circumstance use Win98 over W2k.

Dual boot is a good idea if you really MUST have Win98.

Windows XP works great...the disc handeling is faster than on any OS i have tried earlier and itīs verry fast on booting..on my duron 750 it takes 16sek. to boot until itīs finished. And converting div-x is faster than on millenium with TMPGEnc

  5. The best OS is the one that does it job for YOU, not for someone else, most people are Microsoft Addicts, and would always recommand you the best system, even if it won't work good for you, it will work good for them, then of course it will be your fault.

I suggest you install one, see how it works with your hardware, not satifised, format and install the other, still not satisfied, install the last one, then compare which one was easier for YOU to work with! and that's how you can decide for YOURSELF what is best for your own needs.

I Work with 98SE, cause i'm sick and tired of supporting the Microsoft Monopoly like some other people enjoy doing, it's the last and only system i'll install, and to be honest, I don't need any more then this, i'm running everything I need, and it hasn't crashed on me, it all depends on the way you install it which will define if it's gonna be stable or not.

  6. I use WIN98 Gold and its worked fine for me for the last 2 years, stable? nothing is %100 stable, but I have had no major crashes or lockups unless I actually did something stupid on the operating system myself, but what ever you use I recommend getting all the upgrades and patches for that operating system.
Have latest drivers for your PCI, AGP and ISA cards also and make sure you are using DirectX 8a.
