  2. If it's a genuine TDK, they should be pretty good... however, if it's the hijacked version AKA Princo, you might be a little disappointed.

  3. maybe they are hijacked cause they dont say TDK anywhere on the DVD.
this really sucks cause i was all exited
is there anyway to check if it hijacked for sure?

  4. I suppose you could always drop That's Write / TDK a line.

I'm sure if you send an e-mail to That's Write and CC it to TDK, you would get something good out of it - like a freebie box of media from TDK if it's a hijacked code and you put them on to it !

  5. well heres my email to TDK with there response. Looks like they are fake

    Dear Valued TDK Consumer:

hello I just bought a 50 pack of That's Write DVD-r Media and they said it
was authentic TDK media when I look it up in DVDinfo a program i have it
    has
    this code
    0 42 00 00 01 40 C1 FD 9E D8 50 00 02 88 0C 11 .B...@....P..... 76 67 80

    30 30 30 00 05 88 80 00 00 00 01 00 00 00 00 00 000............. Is this
authentic TDK or is it fake thanks if you can verify this.

    Reply:
We do not sell discs to other companies at this time, so this appears not
be a geniune TDK disc. It is most likely counterfeit, as no other company
should be using TDK's idenitifer code.

    Thank You

    TDK Electronics Corporation.

I also emailed That's Write no response from then yet.

  6. I was under the impression that TDK weren't in the OEM business but wasn't sure - I didn't want to say that in case it clouded the issue.

If you bought the discs on the grounds of the TDK code then send your supplier a copy of the mail and get your money back. A reputable company will not want to associate itself with what is effectively pirated goods.

Does this mean that these are also illegal copies? Or are they TDK discs printed with the Bulkpaq logo?

@energy 80's...they CAN'T be authentic or even OEM TDK disks because if you look at Q9's response post from TDK....he copied TDK's reply. It says right there that TDK at this time does NOT sell disks to other companies. Just another case of "identity theft" so to speak....

  10. Apparently, the only legal discs with the TDK manufacturer's ID code are discs such as the TDK DVD-R47EA. These are Made in Japan at TDK's own manufacturing plant.
