They all basically do the same thing right?

I noticed that Pinnacle InstantCopy said that it can copy a Dual Layer 9 DVD to a DVD-+r. But in the fine print it says it can't do it if the DVD is protected or encrypted. So could you then rip it with DVD Decrypter and then burn it with InstantCopy?

And from the looks of it, DVDShrink and DVD2One are the same thing correct?

Thanks for help clear these things up for me. Still trying to learn ya know.

Is that a Miami Dolphin emblem? Hadn't seen one since Bob G's team had a perfect season in 197?. You can Back-up DVDs you own using a variety of tools. IC7 I don't use enough, but I know it will work. DVD Shrink and DVD2One are too different animals and they look different. The former having both a decrypter and compresser and the latter only a compressor. DVD Shrink has a lot more user interface tools plus a preview window so you can see what the heck you are keeping or throwing away. I have used a combination of tools depending on what I want to do and how simple or laxy I am. DVD2One keeps getting better, but has been slow to grow since the developer has other obilgations. Hope that answers your questions.

Yes, just be sure you rip to an IFO with Decrypter and not and ISO.

Maybe now you can help me- how do you get the quoted text to show up in the white box? I've tried 3 times to use the quote button but it just keeps putting the "[quote]" box around the text.

Bob, when I click the quote button (which is what I did to get your quote in this message) it puts the following into my reply message. I am going to put it an "" because otherwise it will place your quote twice in my message. See if yours looks like this format when you hit the quote button:

This time I replaced the "o" in quote with a zero. Maybe now it will come across correctly.

It worked that time, just replace the "0" in both "qu0te" with a "o" and you will have the format that it comes across as when I click the "quote" button. Then compare that to yours and see if something looks wrong.

  10. IC7 is a encoder the other two are transcoders. Both IC7 and DVD2One do not have its own decryptor so you will have to rip the dvd to your hard drive with another program first. DVD2Shrink has a built in decryptor and you do not have to rip the disc first. Encoders are supposed to give better quality but most people can't tell the difference. Transcoders do the same job much faster.

Thanks for clarifying that. Very helpful.

  12. Are they the same?
Yes the same as a Apple, Orange, Grape... all fruit.

They all set out to do the same thing DVD9 to DVDR.
Each with slightly different methods. Yet generally similiar quality results.
