    Ok I've got a DVD from one of my favorite bands and its got a live performance on it that is unavailable on CD...what I wanted to do is rip the Audio out of it which I believe would be AC3 (I'm not sure, Ive only done DVD-9 to DVD-5 Conversions and DVD-5 straight copies..kinda clueless about this) and make it into a WAV or MP3 and burn it to a CD-R. I've found Guides for the resampling/conversion so that isn't too much trouble but what I need to find is something to extract the AC3 tracks out from my DVD. Can anyone point me towards a Tool that can accomplish this? Preferably freeware but if its share or payware I'll buy it if I really need to. I just want to get this done as soon as possible, I got a few long car rides ahead of me and I need some new tunes for the drive

  2. Look for an app called besweet gui, it converts ac3 to just about anything.

    And use dvd decrypter to rip the audio directly to an ac3 file, select
    Mode->Ifo
    Stream Processing
    Enable Stream Processing
    Select which audio tracks you want to keep
    Right-click on a AC3 audio track file and select "Select 0xE0 & 0x80-Demux"
    and hit the DVD to HD image and you will get an ac3 file.

    I Followed the steps and I got a VOB file, no AC3...if it helps Im using DVD Decrypter 3.1.6.0. The 3 files I got are a txt file with Audio and Video stream info, an IFO file, and a 36 MB VOB. Maybe I need a newer version? I dunno...

    Since DVDDecrypter didn't work as expected, you can use VOBEdit-available in the "TOOLS" section-to demux the audio and video. This will save the video and audio as separate streams. You can then use BeSweet to convert the AC3 to WAV or MP3. Just load your VOB into VOBEdit and "demux". I usually chhose to demux "All Video streams and Audio streams".

    Hope this works for you

    Do as Baldrick said up to Demux but right-click on AC3 file and select "Select 0xE0 & 0x80-Demux" then hit run.

    Thanks everyone, I followed the final suggestion about rightclicking in DVD Decrypter...it output the proper file, now all I gotta do is the conversion and burning. Thanks for all the quick replies and helpful tips.

  8. I don't know if anyone has noticed but the latest version of TMPGEnc(free) will accept AC3 files for audio,maybe it's my system.Just copy lame.exe to the TMPGEnc folder and select MPEG-1 Audio Layer III or use "Output to WAV file",no need for BeSweet.
    Athough I can't multiplex .MV2 & .AC3 files anymore.

    Moviegeek: It depends what ac3 codec you have installed. I have been able to import it with older version but I don't remember what ac3 codec I used.
