    is there a way to remove the subtitles (jananese!) in an existing avi-file (divx)
    I'd like to put another subtitle in, know how to do this, but don't know how to remove the old one !!

    You can only superimpose new title on top of old one. Make sure new one covers old one entirely. That's the only way since subtitle in Divx (or MPEGs) are part of the video.

    Not very good, but you can use "logo away" filter in Vdub and put a black box over them, then add your new subs on top of that.
