    Let's say for example I have 3 clips: A, B, C.

I am using Pinnacle Studio 8 software for all of my authoring/editing.

When you drag in a "menu", it automatically creates "chapters", one for each clip. So when I run the DVD, I have 3 links on my menu screen, one for clip A, B and C. Now, when I click on clip A for example, once that starts playing, I would like to be able to hit "next" and have it go to the next scene within clip A and NOT jump to clip B which is what it is doing right now. Maybe Pinnacle Studio does not allow this functionality. If this is the case, what software could I download/buy that would allow me to do this? Any ideas would be great.

  2. Hello !
Studio makes one chapter for each clip if you let studio do this automatically when you insert a menu.
If you have more chapters in clip A then you have to split this clip into multiple scenes.
I am not sure if I fully understand your question

Mickey, yeah I know it does that. Let me break it down a little better.

Clip A - Divided into about 6 scenes.
Clip B - Divided into about 6 scenes.
Clip C - Divided into about 6 scenes.

Now, on the main menu when you put the DVD in, you will see 3 buttons, one for A, B and C. If you click on clip B for example, it will start playing clip B, but when you hit your "next" button on your remote, it should go to the next "scene" (remember, there were like scenes in each clip) in that clip, instead it will jump to the beginning of clip C.

I hope that explained it better. I can't believe nobody has asked this before and no one seeems to know how to do it.

  4. Hi !
I have not tested the case you describe. I think you have to have 3 main menus and 3 submenus. Then you can link the chapters manually to each meny.
    Hope this help.

Ok, sounds a little confusing, but I will give it a shot. Not sure if Studio allows Submenus. I'll try though. Thanks

I already answered parts of this in the other thread you posted. A couple other things:

Studio does allow submenus according to the manual, but I haven't been able to get them to work in the last 6 months.

You do not have to split a clip into more scenes to add more chapters, you can put the chapters whereever you want manually (see my other reply).

  7. Hi,
Do you want to give a try on TMPGEnc DVD Author? I think it supports supmenu.

Bobk, I will take a look at my other post to see your reply.

I will also look at DVD Author as well if it allows Submenus.

  9. PS8 supports submenu. I use them a lot.

When you hit "next" it will always go to "next chapter" only. So you need to create more chapters. "Scenes" doe not mean anything in DVD world.

Other than that I don't know....
