  1. Hi,

Just got myself a Toshiba standalone and the NTSC (I'm in the UK) discs I have are still playing black and white. Do I need to do soemthing to my De Graaf TV or buy a new one?

  2. Check the setup menus of your Toshiba, it may have an option to output NTSC as PAl-60. Your TV should be able to handle that.

  3. Hi,

All I have at the menu stage is PAL or Auto. I have tried the hack in the page to the left, but the disc is not recognised. Have I burnt the hack incorrectly?

Is there another way to get the Toshiba to upgrade and allow me to choose which system I use?

  4. if the auto option doesnt work, it sounds like your TV doesnt support NTSC.

I have an old TV, and cant afford a new one yet, but i get around it as my Yamada standalone has a built in converter!!! It will play anything, and only cost me 50 notes!!!!

  5. Yep, thats what I figured. Bugger!

Still, so long as I get a decent TV, I can get 12 months interest free option to pay

On my Cyberhome AD-L528, if you select NTSC TV output, my TV also shows B&W unless I force the RGB output setting - maybe your player has a similar setting?

  7. Hook up to your SCART socket that can handle an RGB signal from your player (every TV built in the last ten years or so will have one of these).

Then tell your DVD player to output RGB from the SCART socket - black and white will disappear

RGB does not differentiate between PAL and NTSC
