when i burn vcds with vcdeasy and then try to copy the disk it wont let me casue its says the disk is write protected is there a way to turn it off?

  2. VCDEasy does not make copy protected VCDs (there is no such thing -- and even if there was this is not a feature of VCDEasy).

How are you trying to copy your VCDs?

  4. no such thing as copy protection for VCDs of any kind.

are you making a 1:1 direct, on-the-fly copy with nero? is it not working for you???

if not, then try copying the avseq01.dat from the VCD to your hdd. then load the .dat file into nero's VCD template and burn it.

hey cs_exile why dont you just burn with NERO i mean its a lot easier and i dont think it has write protection, bu that is just my suggestion.

  6. What is it? is it "Write protected" or "Copy protected"??? They aren't the same thing at all. If it's saying it's Write Protected, you are probably trying to write to an already used disk.

  7. Yeah, give us the exact message because VCDs CAN NOT be protected, period. Neiter the VCD standard (nor VCDEasy) support this. Even for copy protected discs Nero only gives a warning (or use to I stopped using the program a while ago).

I can assure you that there is none because I helped in the development of VCDImager which is the "guts" of VCDEasy.

Maybe he's talking about some fit that Nero might be having with the CP flag (you know, the one in the PQ subcode within the CUE file)?

  10. Possibly!

Is Nero able to make an image of the S/VCD onto the HDD?

ok perhaps i didnt explain properly, firstly i create the vcd image with vcdeasy, u know with chapters and menus. then i burn that image to disk with nero. Then when i want another copy of the disk, instead of storing hundreds of images on my harddisk, i want to copy the actual vcd. ihave 2 cd drives, and i use nero to copy the disk. however when nero reads the disk its says its copyrighted and copy protected, and will not copy it. this only happens with vcds i burn with vcd easy, perhaps its something nero does when i burn the image. copying discs is something i do all the time, so i know how to do it.

  12. It perhaps is something dodgey that Nero is doing when it is burning the disc then.

Have you tried CloneCD (superior in copying CDs in so many ways)?

In the future, I suggest that you do the following. use VCDEasy to create the CUE/BIN image and then mount it with Daemon-Tools as a virtual CD. Then, use CloneCD to "copy" the virtual CD to a CD-R disc. This gives perfect S/VCDs.

If you don't want to get CloneCD (suggested), you can instead use Nero to copy the virtual CD to a CD. Nero's DAO CD copying function probably works better than its ability to read CUE/BIN images.

I get the same messgae with certain VCD (it appears as if there's copy-guard)
I am unable to copy to hard drive the .dat file (it errors halfway thru)
the same disc says its copy protected in the NERO dialog when you go to dup it and then, part way thru it fails but the final message doesn't mention the copyguard again and I don't have the disc anymore (couldn't copy it) to post the message here

  14. It may be as simple as the fact that there is an unrecoverable error on the VCD on a particular sector (not uncommon as S/VCDs don't have ECC for the video tracks). Some CD copying programs can't handle this and die (though the error message that pops up is somewhat interesting -- perhaps Nero thought that the most common scenario for this would be for SafeDisc protected game CD-ROMs).

I continue to suggest CloneCD as it can deal with these simple problems and deal with them well...
