A friend of mine just got back from a 3 week vacation and has about 900 digital pictures.
He asked me if he could create a slideshow on CDR and have it play on his standalone DVD player.
I know that I could create an SVCD by editing the pictures in premiere.
But I was wondering if there was a utility that could just accept drag and dropped JPGs and do an auto conversion.

Thanks miki, I have a DVD Writer, so I would just do it in Premiere and Author it with DVD-LAb and burn it with Nero.
But my buddy wants to do it on his own...
I will pass the info along.--

You can make a slideshow on CD in Nero. Does not allow for a soundtrack, though.
Virtually all DVD authoring programs that will burn VCDs will let you create a VCD slideshow (even though VCD, stills are displayed at 702x480) too. Just don't add transitions between slides (if that's an option), or the program will create a VCD video at 356x240 instead of the higher resolution for stills. Same thing goes for standalone slideshow programs (no transitions). -
Thanks Nolonemo, I will tell him.
I find it much easier going straight to DVD.--
