  1. When I load MPEG-2 files into Windows Media Player they have bad interlacing, and some green blocks at the bottom of the file. So far I have tired the K-lite codec pack (which did nothing) power dvd (which did nothing) and the intervideo mpeg-2 codecs.

The Intervideo winDVD codec pack fixed the problem, but after it was installed, loading files (whether they were mpeg-2 or not) took a very long time to load (and that was unnacceptable)

Anyone who knows of any other mepg-2 codecs, or knows what possible codec conflict could have caused the extremely long load time with intervideo installed please respond.

I've had huge problems with Elecard. That thing is worse than bubonic plague. Kill it if you find it. I use Ligos on my system. Use PowerDVD to watch the files deinterlaced, not WMP9.

  5. I figure that my problem with winDVD is a codec conflict, does anyone know how I can disable the previous codecs (like the default ones with winXP).

Or am I stupid for thinking that that is why I took so long to open a file.
