    Let's say for example I have 3 clips: A, B, C.

I am using Pinnacle Studio 8 software for all of my authoring/editing.

When you drag in a "menu", it automatically creates "chapters", one for each clip. So when I run the DVD, I have 3 links on my menu screen, one for clip A, B and C. Now, when I click on clip A for example, once that starts playing, I would like to be able to hit "next" and have it go to the next scene within clip A and NOT jump to clip B which is what it is doing right now. Maybe Pinnacle Studio does not allow this functionality. If this is the case, what software could I download/buy that would allow me to do this? Any ideas would be great.

    Yeah, thanks.

I posted it twice because I was hoping someone in the other forum had a clue how to do it. I guess not.

You can turn off the automatic chapter creation and put the chapter points whereever you want. Or you can leave the automatic creation on and add more chapter points after it's inserted the automatic ones.

To turn off automatic chapter creation click on Setup, then click on Edit. In the lower right corner of the Edit options you can click on the drop down box to select one of several options- one is 'Don't Create Chapters (autmatically)'.

Either way, to manually create chapter points you have to have the menu highlighted. Click on the video toolbox button and then click on the 'create or edit menu' button (third down from the top). Then you drag the timeline button to the point where you want the chapter and click on the 'set chapter' button. (You also have to select the chapter # you want to create. If you don't change it then it will just move that chapter point when you hit 'set chapter'.

Bobk, I'm not sure this is what I am looking for, but I will try it anyway.

I believe doing it this way will create a menu item for every chapter you create.

Not if you do everything manually- create the menu, put in as many chapter points as you want, then set the chapter points on the timeline.

It will not create any menu items, and it will only allow you to set as many chapter points as there are menu items.

    Bobk,

I understand what you mean now. I will try it when I get home. If this works, I can't believe how simple it is.

    Thanks.
