Ive heard the word demux and mux or somthin please excuse the spelling but I have no idea what this procces does. and why would you do it?
I did a search on it and all i know is people do it to the MPEGs before putting them into vcds or somting
Is this a matter of compression or Mpeg repair?

demux and mux are used to refer to the processes of seperating the audio and video and combining the audio and video respectively

a reason why you'd want to demux is if you want to manipulate either the audio or video separately, such as normalize the volume with sound forge (just one example)
