We installed our new TDK Indi 4x Multi Format Burner this morning...(Win XP SP1, ADM 850, 512 k memory) - played back a DVD on it, to see if it was operating correctly; but the AUDIO was out of synch with the video, and choppy! I tried several DVD's.. all of them played back the same way ~ Terrible ! Video was inconsistant.. sometimes choppy, sometimes not.. What could possibly be the problem ? and..how can we correct it ?

I will tell you that we have had DMA problems in the past with this machine..we installed a DVD Rom player on it a few weeks ago; and BOTH the audio and Video played back choppy...

We did a little research; we found that our motherboard has one of these awful VIA chipsets in it; so yesterday; we downloaded the Via 4 in one drivers..and the DMA finally showed up; but only as Multi-Word DMA mode 2 on the secondary.. the primary is showing Ultra DMA Mode 1. We installed the new TDK IndiDVD 4x Multi Format Burner this morning..but have choppy out of synch audio and video on playback of original DVD's..

Any help would be greatly appreciated ~ Thanks !

  2. to get windows XP to reconise UDMA if it does not detect it. Is to go into system through the control pannel. Then hardware tab>device manager.

Go down to IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers. Uninstall the one with your DVD drives on (Usually Secondary IDE Channel). Restart the pc and it will automaticly install them again. With there proper UDMA settings.

If that does not work, you didn't mention the software you are using. I find that either PowerDVD Or WinDVD, Are the best software players out there. I use PowerDVD 5.

More than likely its your software. 8)
