My DV Capture always Prematurely Stopped without any Error Massage.
It always happened every each time that I tried to capture clip from my Mini DV. (Sony PC110E)
It works fine for few minutes then stopped while DV Tape still running on Playback but I don’t see any activity of Data Incretion on HDD.
After wait until I'm sure that it's happended again, I have to click "Stop Capture" and the file will saved on HDD and it still playable with Windows Media Player 9. (Duration of The File show exact time as the counter when capturing stopped)
I’ve tried with all available capturing software such as Windows Movie Maker V.2 or InterVideo WinDVD Suite (comes with Mother Board) and MyDVD (comes with DVD Writer) but all failed.
This incident always occurred but not in the same duration of capturing, Sometimes it occurred since the first few minutes but sometimes it can go till 10 or 30 minutes then stopped. (DV tape will continue running).
My PC. Specs. :
CPU Pentium 4 2.6 C. Hyper Threading Anabled
80+80 GIG HDD Maxtor SATA Raid 0 (total 160 GIG)
Mainbord ASUS P4C800 Deluxe with Bios Version 1008
DDR Ram 1 GIG (512 MB x 2)
SONY DRU-510A DVD Writer
HDD Detail : Raid 0 (3 Partitions and all Drives in NTFS format and Defragmented)
OS. Windows XP SP1 on 1st. Partition (10 GIG)
Temporary Folder for Capturing on 2nd. Partition (20 GIG)
DV Data Storage on 3rd. Partition (130 GIG)
In my opinion, the PC specs is quite O.K. but I don’t know what caused the problem.
I'm not sure if the blame is for FireWire (No Brand) or the Onboard IEEE 1394 Port (Chipset VIA 6307) as I did not use any capture card.
The Captured file is very smooth (DVD AVI Format) and sound sync' is very good but it only stop prematurely at different timing on each capture.
Any Idea?
Please Help
Thanks
Dulal

I had this happen once BUT that was running on battery power.
Never had a problem since, as i now use the charger/ac power when doing transfers.

Yes, Dear "holistic" I did use AC Power with my DV during Capture.
I also checked in PC Power Setting to make sure that any "Power Saving Mode" or "Hibernation" is not used.
I also tried, Disable "System Retore" at all HDD Partitions and it did not help.
Any Advice, anyone?
Thanks
