  1. I Use Adobe Premiere to capture and edit my videos. I just finished one of my projects and I exported it. It came out to about 6.4GB. I am in the process of putting it on a DVD and stuff, but while i was doing that i wanted to give some people data CD's of the movie. So my question is if anyone knows of a good convertor that will enable me to fit my video on a data CD (not a VCD) and still keep the qaulity up?

TMPGEnc. Make sure you have a DV codec, though. Click here.

  3. Actually, you can probably use the KDVD template for TMPGEnc from KVCD.net. I was ably to fit 1:40:33 of video onto about 1.1 GB.

he stated above "NOT VCD" , that template is basicly VCD (except mpeg2) plus he would have to spend the time to encode it twice (once for good quality compliant DVD and again for the KDVD low bit rate that you would not be able to re-use for anything) ..

Also the template above is for progressive film source and if he has DV material it is interlaced material which requires higher bit rate anyway .

you could split the original files with v-dub or v-dub mod (quicker) into data dvd or cd sized pieces and burn them ..

  6. If you are happy with a data disc and are not worried about playing it on a stand alone DVD player, then DIVX or XVID is probrably your best bet. The only hurdle is making sure that the people you lend it to have the correct codec installed on their PC so they can play it ok.

  9. I downloaded VirtualDub and when I tried to open one of my AVI files it said:

"Couldn't Locate Decompressor for format 'dvsd' (unknown)

VirtualDub requires a video for windows (VFW) compatible codec to decompress the video. DirectShow codecs, such as those used by Windows Media Player, are not suitable."

Is this because I dont have a DV codec? Because I downloaded one abd it didnt seem to work so im not really sure what to do. So if anyone knows that would be great
