tx,
Comcast supplied splitter, 900 mhz. I gotta think they supply the proper equipment. However.....if there is a higher number, I'll look for it
There is no decibel rating on it, nor any of my others

My point. Through the box, both standard, non premium channels, and for pay, digital channels, are better on the cap card. I've tried it the other way around, too, without the box, it is not as good on the TV, not considering the digital content is way out of sync, much horzontal hold crap and snow/static, which is to be expected.

If all is equal between your capture card and your TV with the exact same feed. And if it looks better with your capture card then the tuner in your TV. Then I would guess that the tuner in your capture card is of better quality.

Now, please explain that.. I do think I have a full strength signal coming in.
As I said, if I split, I have a good pic on the TV, a pretty good one on the TV card.
If I connect the cable converter directly to the TV card, I have a good pic on the TV card, plus the "premium" channels, unscrambled, of course, that is what the box is for. The reason I do not go through the box for both, is that, if I do, I have to watch the same channel I am capping. -

Now, there, you may have a point. I have a maybe 6 year old Sanyo, and a less than a year old Conexant Silicon based tuner in my cap card, an MSI.
It could possibly be the damn thing is better than my TV. At 1/5 the cost?
Sheesh!!! -

Are the cables the same. RG59 or RG6? Both?
Shielded? Gold plated? Physically perfect?
Have you interchanged the wires for that test?
As far as Comcast supplying the best equipment, sometimes not. I have to ask for all my wires and connections. They have them, but they're greedy with them, only to be used on problems they deem deserving. The better stuff costs them more, so they try to keep it's usage to a low. Normally, if you just ask for a better split or wire, they'll retrieve one out of their truck. Before I switched purely to satellite, I made them install amps at the box near my home because of bad signals. All my neighbors had the same problems.
Is there any dirt/filth on the wire connections?I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored. -
Tx,
I think the above may be the prob. My cap card has a better tuner than my TV. Course the TV is fixed at Channel 3. Maybe if I switch everything to channel 4, and set the TV to 4, it wll be better.
BUT, it is 4 AM here, and I am gonna drag my ass off to bed.
I'll talk at yunz later in the day. ( Yunz is Pittsburgh speak, so I have been told; kinda like y'all.)
