I've been looking for a thorough review of Pioneer's A06. CDR Info has finally done one!

  2. not much of review really. The article pretty much shows what most people already know (well i do) and i think a more appropriate rigorous testing is still in order to see how the dvd writer holds up to its claims. 8)

WOW that is some review. Kas if you already knew all that then you must be a super geek. 13 pages of technical jumble that only a TRUE geek could understand. One day I will try to read it all and take 10% in. I do agree that the bottom line is how realiable this drive is gonna be over time so keep up the beta testing.

My thoughts exactly. The bulk of the info is on CD ripping and reading. The remaining is just reprinted specs from Pioneer's website.

It bugs me that these drives being DVD Burners, they should concentrate more on that aspect. I believe most people looking for a DVD burner are more concerned with the ability to burn DVDs rather than how fast it can rip a copy protected game cd

Also given the varity of available media out there, I'd like to see an indepth media compatibility test with the drive review.

  5. yeah lets review how well a dvd burner can rip cd's
cause tahts why we buy it dvd writers isnt it... to rip cd's....
seriously i dont think ive ever seen a bigger space filler than all that irrelevant garbage.
    Begin Rant
ITS A DVD BURNER, IT BURNS DVD's. NOBODY GIVES A STUFF HOW LONG IT TAKES TO RIP CD's
    End Rant
