From computer to TV Resolutions???

Ok I am not sure it goes here but since I am a newbie....I plugged my friend's portable computer to my tv and we watched a tv show but there waws lots of lines as if the resolution was very bad on the tv...Am I supposed to adjust something on the tv or on the computer so that the quality that shows on the computer is the sam\e on the tv???(we connected through cable) !

A computer monitor at its lowest default (640x480) is still twice the quality of a tv set. They will never look the same. That's another reason to always view final products on a tv and not the monitor. Artifacts and distortions often disappear in the lower res of the tv.
