I've upgraded my capture system to Win2kPro and have noticed the capture data rate more than double! Just wondering if the following specs are "out of spec" -

    Win2kPro -

With my Win98se system I generally noted the following differences -
    Data rate - 8000KB/s
    Compression - 2.4:1

The hardware/software specs are as follows:
    VirtualDub_1.5.1/VirtualDubMod_1.5.1a
    WinTV_PCI
    Huffyuv_2.1.1
    wintv_vfw_driver (Win98se)
btwincap_wdm_driver (Win2kPro) (Could not attain capture resolutions above 640x480 using WinTV supplied drivers. I capture 720x480.)
WD1200bb (note - capture rate/compression is the same even when drive is empty and optimized.)

Also, overlay is inoperable when using VDub under Win2kPro. I know it's normal for it not to be accessible when capturing but mine is always unattainable. Just an observation.

    Appreciate any and all opinions!

    Best Regards,

The data rate is directly connected with the video codec. If you were using huffyuv in both cases, then make sure you are using the same settings (configure video codec). Depending on the settings, the codec goes from lossless and high data rate to slightly lossy and medium data rate.
The more I learn, the more I come to realize how little it is I know.

Not sure what I've done but the capture values are now in line with what I was accustomed to with Win98se.

As suggested, I checked all settings/values for codec and apps and they were 100% equivalent to the previous setup. What I did notice though is that my audio line-in to the capture card was only partially pulled out giving me only mono along with a very "dirty" audio signal. How this could effect video capture eludes me but it is the only item I actually made any changes to.

Believe me, I have been tweaking this problem for days with no success before posting this query. Figures just a matter of minutes pass after posting that it decides to give me a break! Hope it lasts! ;-)

Thanks much for your reply. :-)
