  1. Hi,

I have got a video footage that I took during my holiday.
there were a conversation on the footage but the sound is not so clear.

I want to add a text at the bottom of the screen (like a subtiltle) so that viewer can still understand what the conversation is all about.

    How do i do that?

    Thanks!

That would depend on the video editor you have. If it supports titles, just create the title and put it at the bottom of the video. Some titles will allow the text to move across the screen (like right to left) if you want.

  3. hello again

    Thank you for the reply.
    I really appriciate it.

What is the best cheap prog that you recomend?
The source file is actually already in mpeg1(vcd) and the output would be VCD as well.
I don't mind having the subtitle permanent.

    Any suggestions is greatly appriciated.

    Thanks again!

  4. I use Stuido 8 and Video Studio for that type of stuff. Works like a dream, but not free. Video Studio is a little easier for plain text, but less intuitive for other tasks though.

If you do a search and find a program called "Sub station alpha"
used to be freeware, might still be. it's a sub-titling program, that can be frame served to virtual dub (need additional plugin, Free). if you have a little computer savy you can learn it pretty quick. Do some searches and a little research, this is Perfect for what you want to do!!

    Enjoy!!

    Yep

Those are the two programs I meant. They are "all-in-one" video editing packages, so they are not cheep (around $80) compared to single purpose programs where many are free. But when compared to professional programs they are.

If this is only a one time thing, I would suggest going with lpn1160's idea. But if you are looking for a good all around beginner's package, Studio 8 is great.

What I normally do is capture in Studio 8
Cut out the commercials, and add any transitions in Studio 8
Filter the video in Virtual Dub
    Encode to MPEG with TMPGEnc
Author/Burn with DVD Complete (for DVDs) or Studio 8 (for VCDs)

I only use Ulead Video Studio for a couple transitions not included with Pinnacle Studio 8. The only reason I even have it is it was included with my firewire card.
