I am new to DVD writers. Can I still burn cds with a dvd writer. May seem a stupid question but not to me.
Thanks

Yes my friend you can. However the burning speeds for CD media are nowhere near that of the latest (and cheap i might add) CD burners.

Thanks for that information, I am getting a new computer and it has a DVDwriter on it but I am used to a CD writer.

Allycat,
Stick with a CD writer too. Although you want to get into DVD, most of youre burning is probably audio cd's and plain old data. Top of the range cd writers are peanuts these days, so why not take advantage of the burning speeds and save wear-and-tear on youre DVD writer!
I just picked up an LG writer 52x24x52x for €69, reasonable cheap I think. -

Thanks again, I will have to see what is on the new pc, I think some come are dual both cd\dvd writers. -
I'm curious, is/was there ever a DVD burner that does/did not include CDR/RW burning capability?
If so, which ones? -
there were burners that could not write to cds. these were the first generation of drives (dvd rams). don't worry, i doubt they are still available.
