Well that was a long time ago when I had a bad day but what the hell I still stand by it despite what LordSmurf says.

The APEX may have an excellent chipset but it can't do FR recording and even according to LordSmurf the damn power supplies are known to BLOW UP for Christ's sake!

So buy an APEX and let us know the bill on your burned down house.

The error is common enough to be known about, but it's a small percentage. "Blow up" means it fries on the inside real quick and burns out. A diode or some little thing blows up. Your house won't catch fire.

Refurbs shouldn't have this error.

It's NOT a problem of only the APEX ... it'll happen in any item using this small diode/thing that was made in China. It's a knock-off made from stolen Japanese documents through industrial espionage. That's how I heard the story at least. It was big some years back, but still goes on here and there. Your tv could have one, and you wouldn't know it !!!!!!!

I now have TWO Apex DRX-9000 units. They're fine so far.

It doesn't have FR recording ... but neither did most things when this came out. Future DRX-9200 and 9300 may have that though. Keep watching.
