  1. This is maybe off-topic but not really. I am looking at buying a Divx capable DVD player and it needs to be firmware upgraded to handle Divx 3.11. I have the firmware upgrade as a nrg image (nero I believe) and before I shell out my hard-earned cash, I want to be sure I can upgrade the machine.

Soooooo, can I burn an nrg file on my mac? If so, what would I use? (I have Toast Titanium 5.2 and Missing Media Burner).

    Thanks.

    never encountered a .nrg

what is it supposed to be?
    an image of some sort?

the only thing i can say is to open toast, if it is a disk image, go to disk image, then drag the .nrg to the toast window

if its recognized, then it will probably work

Ill have to do some digging around to see what a .nrg is and if it can be burnt on a mac.

sorry this is sort of no help, but maybe it will work with toast?

    (anyone else know?)

.NRG [energy] is a Nero Disk image. since Nero is not available on the Mac, you cannot burn this image type directly.

A solution would be to use Ross's MoreMissingTools [http://homepage.mac.com/rnc/] and try to use the Nero / NRG rip tool. This does not always work.

Another option would be to use Nero in VPC, attempt to mount the disk, and copy the files to your Mac using the built-in file drag and drop support.

Actually, it is a nero image and you can convert it using Gumby.

In one of the tabs on Gumby you will find your answer.
