  1. Hi everyone,

    My first post

I have downloaded lot's of SVCD movies in .mpg format i want now burn them on DVD-r media, i know it will work well to watch them in my PCs DVD-rom BUT here comes my questions:

Will i be able to watch them in my stational DVD player? must i convert them first to be able to watch them in my stational player? If i must, what program do i need for that? (best results vs easy to use).

I want to fill my DVD-r with 2-4 movies, else i think it's waste of free space, how will that work if i must convert all of them first? if i don't need to convert them they are in different files so that shouldn't be any problem.

Can someone explain this to me in a easy way, i have tried to find some answers and i have seen some close but not exactly the way i ask these questions.

    Thank you all who answer!

  2. if you burn your SVCDs as DATA DVDs, then NO..you cannot watch on your standalone dvd player...

you need to burn those SVCDs to DVD VIDEO...

however, SVCD is not DVD compliant...(i.e. SVCD's resolution isn't supported by DVD specs)....so, if you want to author your SVCDs to a standard DVD, you would need to re-encode them to be compliant with DVDs...

otherwise, you can author your SVCDs as xDVDs or non-compliant, non-standard DVDs, but the compatibility will go down and might not play on your standalone.

look at guides below. good SVCD->DVD conversions....there are ways to author your SVCD to DVD without re-encoding, but again...dvd player compatibility goes down.
