Am I missing something? What's wrong with just deselecting all the extras for the first disc... and then running Shrink again and deselecting the main movie for the second disc?

I'm just curious here. Why do you need IFOEdit at all?

  4. you can use just dvd shrink but you wont have the menu. it will play like a vhs tape, when you put it in it will play movie, no menu, no chapter select, which is why i like to have menu. anyway kas187 here is the guide for movie plus menu.

sorry man, i cant get it to post, its an html file. i could email it to ya if ya want. i dl a package of ifoedit guides somewhere through a link on this sight. you gona have to look around.

    Giggy,

Which version of DVD shrink are YOU using? I'm using the latest, and I have all the menus and everything on the movies I copy...

2.3 - all new interface, etc. etc.

Perfect for what you're trying to do.

  8. 2.3 looks just like 2.0. if you can copy just extras with the menu or just movie with the menu i dont know how, i dont think you can with just shrink. if y a can that would be great, do you have a link to a guide?

  9. To do the above, I usually encode the undesired piece (movie or extras) to the still picture level and remove all audio and subtitles (in DVDShrink). I then back it up and burn with IC7 (de-selecting the undesirables). I know it isn't recommended to "cut" anything in IC7 (since it still takes away from disc space), but re-encoding to still picture and taking out the audio and subtitles in DVDShrink usually cuts it down to a really small waste of space.

  10. You can't keep the original menus when doing the re-author mode in DVDShrink. What you'd have to do if you want a menu is re-author the files in an authoring program and build the menus from scratch.

Example, you can de-mux the VOBs, rebuild the chapters, make menus(Main, chapter, specials, etc), then rebuild and burn.

    Hrm.

I hadn't ever actually tried it, but I guess you're right.

Lemme give it a shot in CloneDVD, I seem to recall that you COULD mix'n'match features while keeping menus with it.

  12. Hi all.

giggy, I know that's not exactly what you want, but why don't you try using DVD Shrink in "Full Disc" mode, and apply "Still Pictures" to the movie title?
If it still doesn't fit on one DVD-R, try removing the movie title audio and subtitles streams too.

Also CloneDVD _will_ do what you want. You can simply choose to remove certain parts of the film.

I'm a little late on the response, but isn't that what I suggested a few posts above yours? Maybe I was unclear that I am using full disc mode, not reauthor (there would be no need to transcode to still picture format in reauthor mode).

You can also de-select the still picture files in IC7 if you don't want them to show up in the finished product.

  18. @ houtx67,

Good point, it is the almost exact same content.
The only difference is I didn't mention the use of IC7 which I personally extremely dislike.

BTW, DVD Shrink 3.0 beta 5 is now out.
IMHO, it leaves all the one-click backup solutions far behind, including IC7. :P

why not just remove the movie using IFOEdit like you do when removing extras?

and if the movie is in its own VTS then use number 5 in my removal guide HERE and do a Get VTS afterwards

I normally use this method when making a 2 disc set and it takes seconds to do it

there's no real need for DVDShrink or IC7
