  1. Hi
I Used Ulead Video studio to take some clips and put them together as a music video. I took various clips and added titles and transitions. I added a Stereo Wave File to the music track. I finished the project by Creating a MpegII file. When I open the MpegII file with Media Player the video plays perfect. The video plays fine with stereo sound. I have used Several different Authoring programs, Ulead DVD Movie Factory, DVD Lab, DVDit, in all of those programs when the dvd is complete the Music videos are in Mono. All of the authoring programs takes one audio channel (the left) and makes that the audio track for both (left and right) stereo tracks. On the computer as MpegII files I have true stereo (Left & Right) channels. But on the DVD only one Channel Plays (the left). It plays through both sides in the stereo (left and Right) but it is only one channel playing. I have looked in the settings and they all are set to stereo. But my dvd is coming out in 1 track Mono. I’m Stumped. I’ve tried using PCM audio converison and MpegII audio. Both with the same results.

  2. The programs may have converted the sound to dual-channel as I believe mono is illegal for DVD's. You said the original files play in stereo on your PC but it is only on your DVD player that it is played in mono. Try playing it on your PC DVD drive and see if the sound is in mono/stereo. If it does there may be a loose cable between your DVD and stereo or there has been a setting made on your DVD player or stereo to play the audio in mono.

Don't know if any of this will help?

  3. Thanks,
No it is not a hardware problem. It's happening in the DVD Converison process somewhere
