How effective are firewalls? against their scanning

What do you mean "their scanning"? I don't think that the MPAA is going around port scanning or running DoS attacks. Though it would be funny!

I don't think it's really called "scanning" when all they're doing is searching your computer on P2P networks just as you can search them on the same network. And the only way you'd be able to block them with a firewall is if you knew the IP adresses for all their systems. Don't know if anyone has a list of them or not yet. I'm not too worried about them coming after me, I don't have 20GB of shares like some people do
