  1. How do you combine different VOBs from different DVDs onto a single DVD? I believe this is an authoring, not a ripping question.

Specifically, suppose you already ripped various small titles from separate DVDs each into its own directory. Then each directory would have a VIDEO_TS.IFO, VTS_01_0.IFO, and VTS_01_1.VOB file. Since all these titles are small in size there is only 1 VOB in each directory, so several titles could fit on a DVD-5.

What I want to know is how to take each of these directories and combine them into a DVD with all of them as separate titles selectable from the player's root menu OR I would be equally happy combining them into 1 title (merging the VOBs) with a single chapter stop between each.

I searched this web site and various posts, but none of them described how to author a DVD like this in a way I could understand. I know it's not as simple as renaming the files. Somehow I have to make the main VIDEO_TS.IFO point to the new IFOs and VOBs. I'm hoping there is an easy solution someone can point me to which does not require a full blown authoring package. Thanks.

It can be done. I'd love to help, but don't have time right now. The response would take a while, and I'd need to double-check a few things.

While I'm not much of a help immediately, rest assured what you desire is possible. I thought some reassurance would be better than nothing.
I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored.

Not complicated at all. Get TMPGenc Author and import the DVD files. You can have menu options including chapter breaks with motion thumbnails. It works great! There are a lot of guides and its the easiest way to make a DVD from multiple vobs.

in your case you could rename your 3rd dvd files

    vts_03_1 ifo bup vobs

    your 4th

    vts_04_1 ifo bup vobs etc

and dvd fab or dvd toolbox will correct everthing for u

you would just have to acces each part through the titles of your dvd player
