I'm able to capture at SVCD quality with my AIW, but I'm always trying for better!
I'm can capture at 480x480 with little to no dropped frames. But I drop up to 25% at 740x480.
My specs
888 P3
256 RAM
ATI AIW 32 AGP
Would I be better off getting a new card with more MB (64) or increasing my RAM?
Thanks for any suggestions,
Raiderray

Try the leaked 7184 driver set @ http://www.rage3d.com .
My 64ddr VIVO could'nt even cap at 480x480 before the 84's
now im up to 720x565 w/about 10% dropped. -
onboard video memory does not help with capturing. it's only really used to store textures in games, etc. also, it won't matter if you get more ram unless you're finding that your machine is accessing the swap file a lot. the only thing that would improve your capture by upgrading your RAM would be if you're getting faster RAM. the best thing to upgrade if you've got the cash is hands-down, the cpu.

i would assume you already know that you must have dma selected on your hard drives properties so as to maximize your transfer rate....
i would suggest unloading all your apps inside your task bar(from virus scan etc...) might be of some help
