  1. I have a bunch of ASF files i'd like to convert to DVD format. I can use TMPGEnc successfully to convert them, but it seems like I have to specify each file individually. I'd prefer to just stick them all in a single directory and process them as one giant batch job with the same settings for all of them. Is this possible with TMPGEnc? If it's not possible with that software, is it possible with any software? I'd also like to consider using a BSD/Linux program if at all possible because I am running FreeBSD on a dual processor machine which doesn't have much to do at the moment

If you have some suggestions on how this can be accomplished I'd appreciate it!

    Thanks,

  2. i don't think you can just put them all into one folder & let tmpgenc do it's work, but it's not to difficult to do it. all i do, is i just set the first clip's settings, & save the project. now, just drag the next clip into the input file & change the naem of the output file. save this project & go onto the next clip. when all your projects are saved, go into the file menu & choose batch encoding & select all the projects you've saved in the previous step & THEN tmpgenc will work it's merry way through them all without needing any further input from you. works for me anyway, whether that's what you were asking however, i don't know.

Try adding all your jobs to the Batch facility of TMPGenc.

CCE and Mainconcept both have easy to use batch modes (if you set up a template first) (as well as tmpgenc)

  5. Yeah all those suggestions I already knew about. The problem is that I have 125 different videos at the moment and don't really want to create 125 different jobs. So i'm really looking for either a way to automate making those jobs, or an automated encoding for like an entire directory.

I found CCE and it won't open asf files, so it's out.

I also looked up mainconcept and tried it real quick.. it decided to crash when trying to open asf files.

So that's where I'm at now. I'm almost tempted to try some VB scripting or something to create the project files for TMPG.. anyways, I'm up for other ideas or suggestions.

  6. I once used a little thing called Blaze media pro or something like that to reencode a bunch of WMV files to vcd, it worked just fine, easy to add lots of files to a list then let it convert them all. Quality was not great, but asf files are usually not so great anyway, so maybe its good enough for you. Sounds like scripting for tmpgenc is the best way to go, shouldnt be hard to make a proggy that makes project files and then add those to the tmpgenc batch-thing.

I'd say do a small DVD2SVCD job and look at the log.
I think it uses Tmpgenc or CCE in command line mode.
Thie log should give you a clue as to the command syntax

The whole point of that was that it may
allow you to write a script or batch file

  10. Secretagent, I found the program on digital-digest.com under the extras for TMPGEnc. I'll try it out later , thanks! Also there was a Perl script there which looks like it might work too!

Thanks for all the suggestions and help!
