    Trying to play a SVCD (.avi) file. The video is great but no sound. Do I need a codec? If so, which one?

    an svcd is mpeg2 not avi. sounds like you need an ac3 codec for your avi file.

    Get gspot from the Tools section of this site, it will test avi's and tell you if you need a codec.
