I am simply using tmpgenc to convert an avi file 42 minutes in length to a VCD. It works fine with similar files, but I have tried this one twice, and each time end up with an mpg over 1 GB. The resulting mpg file is 1 hour 52 minutes long. At about 39 minutes, the video cuts to black and remains like this for the rest of the video.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Is the audio encoded with a variable bitrate ? Open the file in virtualdub it will warn you if it has VBR audio. If it does save the audio out to an uncompressed wav file and use this as your audio source when you encode.
