IF I make a project file from TMPGEnc, than encode it with CCE SP 2.50... does it still have the TMPGEnc quality or CCE's quality?
I've tried making an MPEG1 (VBR) using CCE. My souce clip is 45 minutes long, but when the encoding is done, I'll watch it on media player and it's only 20 minutes long. Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong?

Since you use CCE as encoder, the MPEG is CCE quality. Bitrate settings, GOP structure or Quantize matrices are CCE settings. CCE take over the TMPG filters incl. Resize.
If you converted a 45 min source to a 20 min MPEG, you set the number of frames wrong. Compare TMPG > source range to CCE > encode range. The number of CCE's encode range should be one more than the number in TMPG, because CCE does not encode the "last" frame. -
Just to let you know, most people agree that TMPGEnc does MPEG-1 much better than CCE. But CCE does MPEG-2 much better than TMPGEnc. I personally go with TMPGEnc for MPEG-1 and *most* MPEG-2 encodings with CCE (CCE is so much faster and has better quality MPEG-2 videos! =)

Truman,
I don't want a standard vcd, I want to use multipasses cuZ the movie I want to encode has alot fast motion scenes.
How do I set the number frames one more than TMPGEnc in CCE?

Encoder settings tab > input file settings > doubleclick on the file, then the File Setting window appears. Set the frame number.
Anyway, your source is 45 minutes, the final MPEG 20 minutes and it seems you still did not solve the problem?
If you don't mind, send me the your TMPG template and CCE's .ecl file. That make it much easier for me to help you. -
if you folks are saying that cce has a better mpg2, can you folks share what settings you use for mpg2? mine seem to look a lot worse as compared to my tmpgenc encoded mpg2s

As usual it depends on the source. I you encode a VHS or divx source, you have to add a smoother filter and noise reduction filter(but not CCE's noise reduction, it isn't good). Also encode in VBR multipass (depending on the source quality 2-5pass).

my source is DV.. very clear.. i tried using the same parameters in CCE as I did in TMPGEnc.. TMPGENc is clearer..
SVCD (480x480) 2000 Avg, 0 Min, 2500 Max.
No Anti Noise, no nothing... The CCE encode is way blockier in motion scenes.. I mean I must be doing something wrong.. no way can a supposed $4K encoder be this junk -
I forgot to say... in TMPGEnc I use 2 pass VBR.. in CCe, I've tried 2,3,4 pass.. all the same,..
