  1. I recently encoded part 1 of a movie in the svcd format when i tried to burn it I found that it is to large for one diskead the edit page here on vcdhelp, but step 4 when it says choose output and ok I found no E:\out.mpg ;;; also I hear a lot about figuring what your bitrate is to get the best quality, what the heck is a bitrate and is there somewhere I can go to figure out the bitrate?

Well, I had a look at the newbie guide and yes, I noticed, it says load the template. So, have a look at TMPG's video tab, there are a lot of settings, that are greyed out after loading the template. Hit "load" again and select unlock.mcf. Now you can change whatever you want incl. the bitrate. The filesize of a MPEG depends on the bitrate. Lower the bitrate and you may fit more movie time on a CD and end with worse quality, higher the bitrate for better quality, but you'll get less time on a CD. Note everything off the (S)VCD specs is X(s)vcd, that means, some dvd players wont play it. Use a bitrate calculator:http://www.vcdhelp.com/vcdtools.htm
